Frequently Asked Questions about the Syllabus Tool

Each semester the Center for Support of Instruction receives a variety of questions from instructors and program directors regarding the Syllabus Tool. This FAQ lists some of those questions with answers.

Syllabus Tool Project

The intention of the common syllabus project and the related syllabus tool is to ensure consistency of course focus and scope worldwide and provide model materials for faculty who teach the course, particularly those teaching it for the first time. The common syllabus was developed in response to a number of factors - including not only accreditation review and overseas contracts, but also UMUC's commitment to academic quality and continuity for all its students.

Syllabus Tool - Division (Director) Level

These instructions walk Directors/Program Chairs through the process of accessing the syllabus tool, adding content to the subsections as well as what to do to publish the syllabus to your course sections.

Syllabus Tool - Instructor Level

These instructions assist instructors with the process of accessing the syllabus tool, adding content to the appropriate subsections as well as finishing the process by publishing the syllabus to the classroom so that students can view it.
