While there was a lot of positive feedback regarding the new gradebook area, there were also some issues that required immediate attention. To that end, LeADS modified some aspects of the gradebook. Here's an overview of recent changes:
Preview Student's Assignment Folder
Once you've created an assignment in the Gradebook area, you may preview it from the students' perspective as it appears in the classroom. In the Faculty Center, click on the "Preview Student's Assignment Folder" link next to the Gradebook link. This will bring you to a read-only assignment folder. You can click on the links of each assignment and view the instructions that you posted. To add or edit assignments, you need to return to the Gradebook Overview, click on the "View All Assignments" link, and then click on the tab of the assignment you want to edit.
Sorting the Student's Assignment Folder by Due Date
The student's assignment folder is now sorted by the assignment due date. Previously, assignments were listed in order of their creation date.
Date Check on Assignments
You may now modify the due dates for assignments they've already created, even if the date has passed.
No Pound Signs and Quotation Marks in Tab Headings
Use of pound signs (#) or quotation marks in the tab headings caused problems with the gradebook. In response, LeADS made an adjustment that now prevents faculty members from putting such characters into their tab headings.
Null Value in the Total Points Field of an Assignment Caused Errors in Students' Portfolios
If a faculty member selected the percentage grading method, but did not input a value in the total points field, the student's portfolio would not load properly. LeADS has corrected this problem.
Multiple Occurrences of the Same Student Name
If you see a student listed more than once in your gradebook, please contact WebTycho Level-1 Support Services at 888-360-UMUC (8682) or 301-985-6710 or UMUC360 to have the problem corrected.
