How to Use Inline Sticky Notes in Diigo

Diigo's inline sticky note feature allows you to add a comment that is associated with highlighted text on a page. This tutorial reviews how to use inline sticky notes in Diigo.

  1. From the Diigo toolbar, sign in to Diigo.


  2. Navigate to a Web page you wish to add an inline sticky note to.


  3. Highlight the text where you want to apply the inline sticky note.


  4. Move your mouse over the highlighted text. In the upper-left corner of the highlighted text block, you will see a pencil icon.

  5. Roll your cursor over the pencil icon and select Add sticky note from the menu that appears.


  6. In the Sticky Notes window that appears, complete the following:
    • Enter a comment about the text you highlighted.
    • Select your sharing preference from the drop-down list.
    • Click the Post button.

  7. Click the X button to close the Sticky Notes window.


  8. The inline sticky note icon will appear next to the highlighted text, and it will have a number on it indicating how many comments are on the sticky note. You can review the sticky note by clicking on this icon.


  9. The Sticky Notes window will appear again. You can:

    • post a new comment in the available space 
    • delete one of your existing comments by clicking the trashcan icon associated with that comment.

  10. When you have finished, click the X button to close the Sticky Notes window.
