Protect Sensitive Directories/Files - Setting Directory Permissions

The most secure way to protect your file is to change the "permissions" of a file on the server. This allows you to give certain groups different levels of access to your file. This is a bit more complicated, because the permissions will have to be set using software such as WS_FTP, CuteFTP, IE FTP, Dreamweaver, or connecting directly to the server via telnet or PuTTY.

Protect Sensitive Directories/Files - Using an Index.html File

If you store files on the Polaris or Nova servers, you can use an index.html page to block access to a directory. This method is a little more complicated then just adding text to WebTycho, but is relatively easy and provides you with the flexibility of using URLS in the WebTycho classroom.

Protect Sensitive Directories/Files - Type Content Directly into WebTycho Using the TFE

This is the safest, easiest way is to protect documents such as exams and assignments. This strategy secures access to sensitive documents within the WebTycho platform. You can type, cut/paste, or add content as an attachment directly in WebTycho.
