Video (click play button)

  1. Open or create a Powerpoint presentation.

  2. Click the Slide Show tab.

  3. Click the Record Narration button.

  4. From the Record Narration window, select the Set Microphone Level... button.

  5. Drag the slide to the center and begin speaking into the microphone.

  6. You want the audio levels to peak somewhere within the yellow zone.

  7. If the audio levels peak in the read zone, the audio levels are too high.  If this happens move the slider slightly to the left and speak into the microphone again.  Continue until you have the levels within the yellow zone.

  8. Once the audio levels are set, click the OK button.

  9. From the Record Narration window, click the Change Quality... button.

  10. From the Attributes drop-down box select 44.100 Hz, 16 Bit, Mono and click the OK button.

  11. Select the Link narrations in: checkbox and click the OK button.

  12. When the slide appears, begin speaking into the microphone.  NOTE:  It will appear as though nothing is recording, but it actually is.  You will be able to test the audio once you are finished recording.  To move to the next slide hit the keyboard spacebar.

  13. To pause the narration recording, right click and select Pause Narration from the menu.

  14. To end the narration recording you can hit the keyboard ESC key or right click and select End Show from the menu.

  15. From the Microsoft Office PowerPoint window, select the Save button.

  16. You are returned to the Slide Sorter view.

  17. To test the audio, select the Slide Show tab (if not already selected).

  18. From the Start Slide Show group, click the From Beginning button.

  19. The PowerPoint presentation will open to full screen and begin playing.
