Insert a Shape

  1. Open a blank slide in PowerPoint.


  2. Click the Insert tab.


  3. Click the Shapes drop-down. 


  4. Choose a shape from the menu.


  5. With your mouse, draw the shape onto the slide.


  6. Repeat the steps to add additional shapes.


Format/Modify a Shape

  1. To format the shape first select the shape then select the Format tab.


  2. From the Format tool bar, select a format.  For this demonstration we are changing the rectangle to white.


Add Text to a Shape

  1. To add text to a shape, first select the shape then select the Format tab.  Next select the Text icon from the Format tool bar.


  2. Place the cursor in the shape and begin typing your text.


  3. If you double-click on the text the text formatting options dialog box will open.
