Providing feedback to students using Microsoft Word 2003 and a master set of comments is relatively easy to do and it prevents you from having to repeatedly type the same comments.

To insert master comments in Word 2003 using the "Track Changes" feature:
1. Open both your master comments list and the student paper in Word:
2. In the student paper, select from the toolbar:
3. From your master comments list, select the appropriate comment you want to add to the student's paper and copy (press from the keyboard or right-click and select from the mini-menu) the text:
4. In the student paper, place the cursor at the appropriate location and paste (press CTRL+V from the keyboard or right-click and select from the mini-menu) the copied master comment. The copied comments will appear in the desired location, with color and underlining:
To insert master comments in Word 2003 using the "Comment" feature:
1. Open both your master comments list and the student paper in Word:
2. From your master comments list, select the appropriate comment you want to add to the student's paper and copy (press from the keyboard or right-click and select from the mini-menu) the text:
3. In the student paper, select the portion of text you want to comment on OR place the cursor where you want to add a comment and then select
4. Paste (press Ctrl+V from the keyboard or right-click and select from the mini-menu) the copied master comment in the comment balloon editing box that now appears on the right-hand side of the page:
If you prefer not to work with the Comment Balloons, you can use the reviewing pane to add comments. You will need to be in to access the reviewing pane comments box:
