How to Download, Install, and Register for a Jing Account

Jing is a screencasting tool that is free to download and install. This tutorial reviews the process of downloading and installing Jing and registering for a Jing account.

  1. Navigate to the Jing Web site.

  2. Click the Download button.

  3.  Select either the Download for Windows or Download for Mac button.

     
  4. The Thanks for downloading Jing window appears and the downloading of Jing begins. (NOTE: If Jing does not automatically start downloading, you can click the Click Here link to manually start the downloading process.)

  5. Save the jing_setup.exe file to your computer following the prompts provided by your browser. Then Open or Run the saved file to begin the installation process.

  6. Select the I accept the fine print checkbox from the Jing Setup window.

  7. Click the Install button.

  8. Click the Finish button.

  9. Once the installation process has been completed, the Welcome to Jing window appears. From here, you can learn more about Jing by clicking the Play button or register for an account by clicking the Sign up button.

  10. In the registration form, complete the following:
    • Select the Create new account radio button.
    • In the Email field, enter your e-mail address.
    • In the Display name field, enter the name you want to use.
    • In the Password field, enter the password you want to use.
    • You can deselect the I want to help make Jing better checkbox if you prefer not to participate.
    • Click the Create button.

  11. Once the installation/sign-up process has been completed, the Jing Sun launcher will float to the top of the screen and you can begin screencasting.
