Part One -- Connect to Polaris (ISP) Using WS_FTP

1. Start WS_FTP by clicking the WS_FTP icon that was created during installation. (Note: If a desktop icon wasn't created during the installation, you can select WS_FTP from the Windows program menu.) Both the Session Properties screen and the Site Manager screen will be displayed.

2. Configure your FTP Connection. In the Session Properties window, click the New button.

This is where you will store your server information. The four boxes that need to filled out are: Profile Name, Host Name/Address, User ID and Password.

Profile Name - your first name or the name of the course. (It doesn't matter what you use here, this is only for your info.)
Host Address - polaris.umuc.edu  (for nova account holders: nova.umuc.edu)
User I.D. - Polaris (Nova) user name.
Password - Polaris (Nova) password. (Do not click on the Save Pwd  box next unless this is on your own machine

3. Connect to Polaris (Nova) by clicking the OK button on the Session Properties Screen.

4. The Session Properties window goes away and you will only see the Site Manager window.
