I've been a professional educator and writer all of my adult life. My first job out of graduate school (Doctor of Arts--Writing) was as an assistant professor of rhetoric at Hampden-Sydney College. After five years there, I landed at another small liberal arts school, Moravian College, where I served as an associate professor of English and journalism.
Then the magazine world called: I first served as a managing editor and then as executive editor at a publishing company specializing in health and fitness titles. Combining education and professional editing, I also served as one of my publishing company's in-house editorial trainers.
Today, I've returned to full-time teaching as a Senior Writing Advisor in UMUC's Effective Writing Center, a place where you can go to get great feedback on whatever you are writing during your courses here.
