Starting this fall, the UMUC Library is excited to offer access to two major e-book collections that will greatly benefit students, faculty, and staff in computer and information technology-related disciplines, cybersecurity, digital media, business, and accounting and finance: Books24x7 and Safari Books Online.
Books24X7 includes nearly 11,000 e-books on IT, applied computer science such as programming, software development, systems administration, computer security and cybersecurity, digital media, and other related technical topics—plus major books on accounting, finance, economics, and related topics. You can search or browse by title or subject. The database is frequently updated with new books and other materials. A Books24X7 mobile site and Books24X7 account features (bookmarking, notes, and personal folders) will be coming soon. Two Books24x7 subcollections are available: ITPro and FinancePro. The vendor describes these collections as follows:

FinancePro delivers fully searchable, online content from the most highly regarded financial publishers, such as, John Wiley & Sons, McGraw-Hill, Bloomberg Press, AMACOM and Oxford University Press."
Safari Books Online includes nearly 8,800 e-books on technology, including applied computer science/IT topics such as programming, software development, systems administration, computer security and cybersecurity, digital media, and more—plus business, management, and professional development topics. Included are books from more than 40 publishers including O'Reilly Media, Addison-Wesley, Prentice Hall, Microsoft Press, Cisco Press, Peachpit Press, Adobe Press, Apress, and Manning. UMUC subscribes to the entire Safari Books Online collection, which also includes training videos, early e-book editions (called rough cuts), digital documents that can help solve various issues (called short cuts), and thousands of technical articles. The database is frequently updated with new books and other materials. A mobile Safari site will be coming soon.
The collections are currently accessible through the A-Z list of research databases found on the Library home page at http://www.umuc.edu/library and will soon be available through the Search by Subject pages for individual disciplines.
