The key to effective teaching in the hybrid format is fully exploiting the face-to-face and online environments with appropriate activities and smoothly integrating the two modes of delivery. Listed are the expectations that faculty teaching in the hybrid format should follow to ensure the best possible learning experience for our students.

While each school and many programs already provide checklists for classroom readiness and syllabus preparation, this document has integrated much of this material and presents a UMUC-wide consensus on a set of basic expectations and the rationale behind them.

UMUC-sponsored research and evaluation data support a set of expectations for best practices in teaching.
