Sa holds an MA in Instructional Design and Technology from The University of Iowa. She joined UMUC's Center for Support of Instruction in December 2010, immediately after her family moved from Massachusetts to Maryland. They found the winter weather in Maryland "mild" compared to the several winters they had in Boston.

Born and raised in China, Sa got her BA in English from Shanghai Normal University and subsequently came to the United States to pursue graduate study. While finishing her degree at The University of Iowa College of Education, Sa took the opportunity to work as an Instructional Designer for the university's Center for Credit Programs in 2000. She has remained in the field of distance education ever since. Sa designed and developed a wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses for various online programs at The University of Iowa, University of Illinois Springfield, and Boston University. Coincidentally, most of the universities Sa has worked in managed to win the prestigious Sloan Consortium Award for Excellence in Institution-Wide Online Education. With solid theoretical background and practical technical skills, Sa enjoys designing multimedia learning objects, developing online training and instruction, supporting online teaching, and implementing the latest technologies to enhance student learning. Sa also has extensive experience with major learning management systems.

In her leisure time, Sa loves music, reading, singing, hiking, traveling, and spending quality time with her husband and daughter.
