Publish a PowerPoint 95/97 Presentation in HTML Format

Part One - Saving to HTML Format

1.  Open or create the PowerPoint presentation.


2. From the File menu, click on Save as HTML. (this will launch a wizard)


3. Click on Next. 


4.  Select New Layout and click on Next.


5.  Select Standard Layout and click on Next.


6.  Select Gif - Graphics Interchange Format and click on Next.


7.  Select 800X600 under Monitor Resolution & 3/4 width of screen under Width of Graphics. Click on Next.


8.  Fill in the your e-mail address, home page, or other information (optional). Select Download original presentation (use this option if you want students to have access to the original PPT file).  Click on Next.


9.  Select Custom Colors or use the default Browser colors.  Click on Next.


10.  Choose a button style.  Click on Next.


11.  Select a Layout Style and click on Next.


12.  Select Browse to identify a folder on your hard drive or leave the default c:\mydocuments.  Click on Next.


13.  Click on Finish.


14.  Enter a name (e.g., tman632) if you want to save the layout for future use and click on SaveOR skip this step and click on Don't Save.


15.  You should receive a message the "presentation was successfully saved to HTML format." Click on OK. 


16. You may now exit PowerPoint.

Part Two - Publishing to Polaris using WS_FTP

1. Connect to Polaris  by clicking the OK button on the Session Properties Screen.


2. The Session Properties window goes away and you will only see the Site Manager window.


3.  By default, The left window (local system) in the Site Manager shows the contents of the WS_FTP folder.  Double-clicking  on the green arrow two times will take you back to the C:\ directory.  You can also use the scroll bar to move down to the list of other drives including your floppy.  Double-clicking on any of the drive letters will display the contents of that drive.

By default, the right window (remote system) in the Site Manager shows the contents of your Polaris (nova) account.  Double-click on the www folder to open it.  Then, double-click on your course folder to open it. 


4. Select the folder from your floppy or hard drive (left window)  that you want to transfer to Polaris (Nova).  Then click on the right arrow in the center of the Site Manager Window to move the files to your course folder.   The files will appear in the right window (Polaris or Nova).
